An "elected" choice -- an Embodied Eating roadmap, recipes & rituals for autumn

If you live in the US, and especially if you live in NYC, tomorrow is a significant day, Nov. 4, election day. Voting is the power of choice. And so I’m hinging today’s post on the topic of ‘elected choice’ and am going out on a long-reaching limb likening our choosing of a mayor who (fingers crossed) will embody the ideals and progressive needs of our current city to our choosing of what specific ingredients we are currently purchasing, the foods we are currently eating and cooking and how those will also serve our body’s needs (physically, emotionally and mentally) in the present—meaning the season we are in deep with right now, Autumn.

Aligning our bodies, mindsets and stomachs, with the energy and environment of “now” is one of the best, most effective (and hopefully enjoyable) ways of ensuring a good meal, good nourishment, and a good immune system (I see you lurking in the corner cold/flu season) day in, day out. So what exactly does this all translate to. Well, many things, but if we break it out to down to sound bytes (err…”choices”) along with a quick “hit list” of autumn ingredients to be seeking out each grocery / greenmarket trip, it becomes a whole lot more digestible and attainable. So, below, I’m giving you the Cliff notes’ rundown—some serious “meat” from the latest edition of my Embodied Eating series.
